Old World Allure for a Patio With San Juan Cement Tile

Posted by William Buyok on

Revamp your existing patio from plain concrete, grass or soil to creating a long-lasting vision of relaxation and well-being. In this design, a group of four traditional San Juan pattern tiles have created medallions that are separated by a row of solid color tiles on each side to create a layout reminiscent of Spanish Colonial designs.

Old World Allure for a Patio With San Juan Cement Tile

Our Traditional Cement Tiles are a classic collection of historical cement tile patterns available in the standard 8"x8" format. The San Juan cement tile installation pictured in this Design Idea takes its cue from adjacent terracotta-colored pavers and decorative accent tiles. Not only does this eco-friendly product offer refreshing bursts of colors such as Lilac and Cocoon, but it also adds to the timelessness of any décor.

Design Idea for Cement Tile Patterns

Creating a grid using patterned and solid-colored cement tiles instead of the common carpet design in the center of the room is not only cost-effective, its visually appealing. Create the grid by combining quarter design patterned cement tile with rows of solid color tiles. You can see the dramatic effects of color in similar installation using traditional San Juan cement tile in our Cement Tile Terrace with San Juan, Solid Color Tiles Design Idea, and this recent Project Pick: Traditional Alcala Cement Tile Patio.

Cement Tile Installation Tip

Remember, although cement tile can be used outdoors, it cannot be used in frosty environments. If your project is located where frost or freezing temperatures are common, then we recommend using vitreous or porcelain tile for your project.

Also, cement tiles should be regularly mopped with clear water. A capful of liquid wax may be added to the water to improve the tiles' natural sheen. Also, never use acids to clean the tiles as they will sustain damage. Our cement tile FAQs will help answer most, if not all, your questions about cement tile.
