Cement Tile Adds Pattern, Color to Traditional Bath

Posted by William Buyok on

Cement tile creates a clean look that works well with this traditional bathroom in New York City, New York. Using cement tile, the designer was able to add subtle pattern and color to the bathroom. Additionally, the designer was able to maintain a clean, traditional look that is perfectly at home with the white glazed ceramic tile and fixtures.

Cement tile are flexible and work well with just about any style of architecture. This residential bathroom floor uses a traditional Moroccan cement tile pattern that is updated using two colors: blue and white. The updated tile provides a clean and modern look that works well with the bathroom design. The design team at Lauren Rubin Architecture worked with the homeowner to create the updated look for this bathroom. Lauren Rubin Architecture, based in New York City, New York, is an architecture and design firm specializing in clean modernism with a warm design aesthetic.

Avente Tile discussed the project requirements, timing and colors of the cement tile with Lauren Rubin Architecture. The designers felt the tile was a good choice; but, ordered a sample tile to confirm the colors and finish. The sample also allowed the designers to get buy-in from the homeowners prior to specifying the tile for the project. Because of the project timing, tiles from Avente's In Stock Cement Tiles were used. Because it was a small project, about 50 sq. ft., and the tiles were shipping from Avente's warehouse in Los Angeles, the cost of the freight was about 33% of the project. Fortunately, Avente had the same tile in their East Coast warehouse saving the customer money. In fact, the freight was only 25% of the total order cost. Work was completed by GSC Builders Construction in Yonkers, NY and Avente thanks them for the great installation job!

Lauren Rubin Architecture was kind enough to share these photos of the bathroom and let us know the customer was very pleased with the tile. Thanks to to Lauren Rubin Architecture for working with us on this project!
