Favorite Hexagon Tile Designs

Posted by William Buyok on

Hexagon tiles have cast a spell (or should we say hex) on the design world and it's easy to see why. The geometry of this sexy, six-sided polygon is easily blended with different colors and textures to create simply stunning effects. Mixing plain tiles in neutral grays or warm, sultry reds or with patterns creates some truly eye-catching designs. However, you like your hexagons - plain or with pattern - I've picked some of our favorite hexagon tile inspiration and designs to share!

Hexagon tiles are a great way to add style to just about any design. Whether you want to add them to an accent wall or create a bold statement on the floor, their versatility and style always add flair and pizazz. Hexagon tiles can be used in one color or blended randomly with different colors to create eye-popping design effects. We have several existing blends that are easy to use and prêt-à-porter. Like our Duoro Blend of red tones, shown below, or you can make your own blend by mixing colors and adding texture for a truly personal statement.

Avente customer, Ahmad H., worked with Kitchen and Bath Designer, Caroline E. Shillito. Caroline is the owner & principal designer at emma delon. Ahmad knew he liked the red color blend, Duoro, from images he had seen online. The Duoro blend consists of equal parts Rosa, Mission Red, and City Hall Red from the Rustic Paver Palette. To add interest, the tiles are treated with different textures that include standard or smooth, limestone, travertine and luna. The different textures also change the colors. Luna is our most distressed texture, and has deep valleys and craters. Caroline worked with Ahmed to create the bathroom design that worked for him. After confirming colors and textures with samples for the floor tile, they decided the color blend was perfect. However, they didn't want the Luna texture for this bathroom floor. I agree that the warm color blend of different textures and red colors makes for one very cool bath!

The Royal, a restuarant in Washington, DC's LeDroit Park neighborhood, features 200 sq. ft. of 8" hexagon on an accent wall by the bar. The hand-selected blend of the following colors: Mission Red, City Hall Red, Cotto Dark, Cotto Gold, Natural Gray, Antique Gray, Hacienda, Hacienda Flash was the created by Designer Lucia Windsor Freeman of aggregate architecture+design.

Moreover, the geometric theme of this split-level, 45-seat gathering place was carried through to the restrooms where 90 square feet of 8-inch Hexagon tiles were used for the women's restroom in a color blend featuring City Hall Red, Hacienda, and Cotto Gold.

For the men's restroom, 90 square feet of 8-inch Hexagon tiles were used as well, but with a gray color palette featuring a blend of Antique Gray, Smoke, and Sidewalk Gray. With its wide variety of colors and formats, the Arabesque Hexagon collection of handmade cement tiles can fulfill any design or décor need. Here's more blends using different colors and textures from the Rustic Paver Palette. Use these existing color blends for any Hexagon tiles in the Arabesque collection. You can create your own blend and textures as well. There are fives hexagon formats or shapes available and they include 6", 8", 11" Colonial or elongated hexagon, 12" and 14". Prices will vary based on color, texture and size; however, expect to spend from $11 - $13 per sq. ft. for these tiles.

Hexagon Cement Tiles Create a Hib Vibe for Commercial Locations

Zinqué Cafe in West Hollywood, California is a hip neighborhood restaurant with French-inspired dishes and small plates. Noted as one of West Hollywood's coolest outdoor patios. Could it be the black, white and grey hexagon tiles that make the ambiance? We think it certainly helps!

While we have focused on cement tile installations for most of today's inspiration, we can also provide a similar look using glazed ceramic tiles. We love the look of hexagon ceramic tiles on the accent wall of this Starbuck's at LAX.
