Cement Tile Border in Pale Greens Light-Up a Fireplace

Cement Tile Border in Pale Greens Light-Up a Fireplace

Cement tiles work well for a fireplace or hearth. Using pale green shades, this design would work very well with natural stones, marble, and dark woods, as seen here.

To frame the firebox with a cement tile border and corner design is a fairly easy task. But first, lets look at the colors that our client chose.

There are two colors from our Heritage Solid Color line of cement tiles used in this pattern:

Using this light color palette, or any other monochromatic color scheme, creates a look that is understated and serene. In this design, a single row of Traditional Yuna cement tile in an 8" x 8" format frame the firebox. Yuna is a border pattern that includes corners. It is important to layout the design so no cutting of the horizontal pattern or run is required. Start by centering an 8" x 8" tile in the center of the firebox and running as close to the edge without cutting. The area between the firebox and patterned tiles is finished with a solid color cement tile in Everfrost, which complements the Pale Green beautifully.

The Traditional Yuna cement tile is part of our "design line" and sample stock is generally not available for immediate shipment. However, patterns can be customized with any color from the Heritage Color Palette. After choosing colors, we recommend that a "strike-off" or sample be made to verify the design on the tile before final production. Strike-offs can be made and delivered in a few weeks and shipped directly to you from the factory.

Cement Tile Installation Tip

Cement tile can be used on the floors, walls, and ceilings of bathrooms, showers, and other wet areas of a commercial installation if they are sealed properly with a penetrating sealer. This step helps to avoid stains, while keeping the tiles watertight.

Installing cement tile is a fairly simple process, but it must be done with care in order to achieve the best results. To fully enjoy the versatility of handmade cement tile, we recommend reading our Cement Tile Installation Guide.

Lastly, each cement tile is individually handmade, therefore, slight variations in thickness, shade, imperfections and irregular edges are normal, and are to be expected. These characteristics add to the products natural appeal and do not compromise the performance of the tile. It is very important when installing to pull pieces at random from different boxes in order to achieve a better distribution and blending of the material.
