Spanish Bath Tile

Posted by William Buyok on

Hand painted Spanish bath tile create a striking accent for the shower wainscot. A grouping of four tiles in the same decorative tile pattern, Caceres, is used as an accent medallion and framed in our Yucatan Cobalt molding. Spanish bath tiles convey warmth and instill Old World ambiance in any environment. With centuries-old tile designs, our Spanish ceramic tile collection includes borders, corners, large decorative tiles and accent dots.

A Timeless Look with Spanish Bath Tiles

Spanish Caceres tiles in a traditional blue and white palette provide a classic and timeless look for this bathroom in Houston, Texas. The intricate pattern is balanced with negative space and provides eye-catching for the shower surround. The complex pattern is balanced with a simple, two-color palette in soothing blue that is an ideal color for a bathroom.

Additionally, the colors provide easy pairing with other blue or white tiles. In this bathroom, the soft matte finish of our Barcelona white is a perfect choice to soften the area above the wainscot. Alternatively, the medallion is set off with the Yucatan molding in blue - framing and highlighting a design detail you really want noticed. The medallion commands attention by being placed "on point" and framed in a Cobalt molding. The wainscot is bordered with the same Caceres pattern in a 3"x6" format. Our Spanish tile line is unique and easy to work with because different formats are available.

How to Pair Decorative Spanish and Plain Tiles

Look closely at the white background color in the Caceres and the white in the Barcelona Matte tiles above. Notice the white colors aren't a perfect match; but, they do complement one another.

Additionally, look at the blue in the Caceres deco tiles and compare it to the blue molding around the accent medallion. You'll notice the same thing. The colors are quite different; but, harmonious. Rarely will you get the background color of a decorative tile to match exactly to the color of your field tile, and that's OK! The subtle difference helps set them apart. The brighter white of the plain Barcelona Matte tile brings out the creamier white and pattern in the Caceres. Remember, not everything will match exactly, especially when mixing decorative hand painted tiles with plain tiles.
