Ordering Ceramic and Cement Tile from Avente
There is no minimum order for hand-painted ceramic and cement tile from Avente. However, shipping and handling charges apply to all orders.
Ceramic and Cement Tile Availability
Sample orders generally ship the next business day. The typical delivery time frame is 5-7 days if the product is in stock. For large orders, made-to-order tile, custom tile, or products not in stock, please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. If the product is not in stock, it will be placed on backorder, and we will notify you via email of the ship date. You will receive the item when it becomes available, and your credit card will be charged for the entire order amount. However, you may cancel any item on backorder and receive a full refund if you notify us before we ship the backordered item.
For custom or made-to-order tiles, you will receive an email notification of the expected ship date within one week of the order date. Remember that custom-made and made-to-order items can't be canceled once production begins. We will make every effort to meet the planned shipment date; however, production delays may occur, so please plan accordingly.
Ceramic and Cement Tile Color Variation
Each ceramic tile is hand-painted, and slight color variations will be apparent on each tile. Sample tiles are representative of the colors used; however, there is variation from batch to batch and dye lot to dye lot. The artist's hand is a key element that makes each tile unique.
Cement tiles are handmade with natural pigments, and color saturation and tone variation are apparent in pattern and solid-color tiles. Blending tiles creates a beautiful effect, but looking at each tile will reveal the differences.
In addition to color variation, Rustic Cement tiles have irregular thickness and dimensional variability, which are not defects. Ensure you understand these product differences and purchase samples to confirm the tile aligns with your design and desires.
Ordering Enough Tile for Your Project
We recommend buying approximately 10% - 15% more tile than required for your project. This will allow for any breakage that might occur during shipment or installation, and allow for waste from cuts. We add overage to estimates unless you specify that coverage includes waste or overage.
Please let us know if you have any questions about the quantity of ceramic and cement tiles required for your project. It is best to have the installer estimate the waste needed before ordering.
Avente Tile Conditions of Sale
All tiles sold are subject to variation in shade. No allowance is made on tile after installation. No guarantees are made against fine cracks, also known as crazing, that may develop in the surface glaze. Use constitutes acceptance.
Avente Tile Handling Charge
- All domestic orders have a handling charge of $15 OR a pallet fee of $20 per pallet.
- All international orders have a handling charge of $20 OR a pallet fee of $25 per pallet.
- All payments made via wire transfer incur a $10.00 handling charge.
International Ceramic and Cement Tile Orders
For all international ceramic and cement tile orders, customers are responsible for broker fees, taxes, customs, and import duties of the destination country. Because these duties vary by country, Avente LLC cannot determine these fees. You must provide us with a broker to handle these transactions when the order is placed. After you have contacted your local customs office and found a broker, please notify us, and we will be happy to assist with finalizing your order.

Sales Tax on Avente Orders
Avente LLC collects sales tax for tile orders shipped to California. Sales tax is charged on all merchandise shipped to a location within California. Additionally, services such as renderings, custom molds, and custom color matches are subject to California state sales tax because they are considered production tooling used to manufacture a final product. Shipping by third-party freight companies is not subject to tax on any order.
Currently, Texas is the only other state where we are required to collect sales tax. The rate and total tax are calculated when you check out and are shown on the invoice.
The Total California Statewide Base Sales and Use Tax Rate is 7.25%. However, California counties, cities, and towns may impose one or more district taxes. Those district tax rates range from 0.10% to 2.00%. The tax rate in your area may be higher than 7.25%, depending on the district taxes that apply.
The tax rate for tile orders shipped to California is based on where you take title of the merchandise (shipping or pick-up location). Effective July 2025, the tax rate for orders in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills is 9.75%, but in Santa Monica, it is 10.75%. For other places, the rate will vary based on the delivery location.
