Spanish Tiles Create Cuban Cafe Ambiance
Posted by William Buyok on
Our Spanish Tiles are a classic collection of hand painted tiles inspired by centuries-old Spanish tile designs. The Alcala pattern was chosen by the restaurant owner, Patricia Estorino. She wanted to create the same charm and ambiance for the new restaurant, Gustazo, that you'd experience at a cafe in old Havana, Cuba. The focal point of the room is a mural that uses 6"x6" tiles and framed with 3"x6" and 3"x3" border tiles in the same pattern. Additionally, the 6"x6" tiles are used as accents and placed randomly in the field tile pattern. Patricia Estorino, the owner of Gustazo, is...

Spanish Tiles Create Border for Fireplace

Notice how well the hand-painted Spanish tiles work with the other surfaces and material in the room? The decorative tiles really add a splash of much-needed color to the room. They're right at home with the terra cotta floor pavers, stone molding and black granite mantle and bench. The design uses our Spanish Albacete 6"x6" on the front of the fireplace and Spanish Albacete 3"x6" on the sides. You can also use tiles with a glazed edge to create a base trim along the edge of a room. Spanish Tile Design Tip Ceramic Spanish tiles have a wide range of uses and benefits....
Decorative Spanish Ceramic Tile Inserts

Hand-painted decorative tiles add color and interest to any floor. They can be used with terracotta tiles, stone pavers, or with manufactured porcelain and ceramic floor tiles. In the installation shown here (left), a Barcelona San Jose 3" x 3" tile is placed "on point" in a notched floor tile. Remember, floor tiles will need to be cut and this will increase your installation cost. Also, you should increase the quantity of floor tile purchased by about 10% to 15%. If available, purchase pavers with a notch to minimize the number of field cuts during installation. Choose from a variety...

San Jose Quarter Design For a Wall or Backsplash
Posted by William Buyok on
Create an eye-catching mural with quarter design patterns on a wall. Quarter designs require four tiles to make the complete pattern and are often scaled versions of smaller tiles in the same colorway and pattern. Quarter design tiles generally have more negative space and are ideal for creating a patterned mural for large wall installations. Also, consider using them up to wainscoting height and baths or showers. Here, the San Jose Quarter 6" x 6" tiles create a stunning wall mural for this patio. Our Barcelona ceramic tile collection is ideal for creating a truly Mediterranean look in any space....
